Today we’d like to introduce you to Helio I Bernal.
Helio, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all began with an opportunity to showcase my cultural culinary experience with various ethnicities April 2017. With zero culinary arts background but a decade of food industry handling and knowledge TRMV (The Real Mexican Vittles) was launched. Our first gig (was a festival) we served over 4000 tacos on a three day festival weekend.
With feet swollen, bagged eyes, cut fingers and backaches the smiles on people’s faces after tasting the TRMV experience it was more than enough to form a team to hit the streets of Atlanta. After all, we are selling street food. Once this festival was completed two high-level Atlanta influencers gave us the opportunity to showcase our street food at two private events.
One led by The founder of HYPE (Hispanic Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs) Juanita, the other by Daniela – VP from Fifth Third Bank. This gave us exposure to various people at the parties in which an opportunity to serve food at a Brewery was born. In August 2017, we had one gig every other weekend with one brewery, as of today we now work with over 12 breweries in GA, various corporations in GA, various festivals in GA, various Colleges in GA, and private events in GA.
We have developed more than a handful of teams to go out and serve the streets of GA at the same time. Our demand comes from the seriousness of our commitment to quality ingredients, fresh top quality products, and the best customer service you can only experience with TRMV. The team that drives TRMV’s success is built on (just to name a few) integrity, love, and passion.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a fun road, one of those like the good ole GA back roads to the mountain; you just don’t know what you’re going to get. Competition is great and fun, keeps our drive going, however, the distinction of our product and service allows us to keep slinging TRMV food to all of our hungry or not hungry Georgians.
Luckily, myself (Helio Bernal) has had thorough knowledge and practice with all of the State and Federal regulations that govern all of the food and beverage that hits every viscera in this state. We’ve capitalized on our certifications and practices to make TRMV a safe to serve food provider, oh yeah we also have our ServeSafe certifications. Lol, our facility as said by our commissioner “Gary Black” is one of the cleanest and most pleasant to inspect/visit in the state of GA.
However managing various outings at the same time is quite overwhelming to make sure all runs and gets smooth to its final destination, that being our end consumer. In the end, I’d like to think that we have been blessed to grow so quick in 17 months of business.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Real Mexican Vittles (TRMV) is a minority-owned, artisan, food provider specializing in authentic Mexican cuisine. TRMV is dedicated to pairing its food with a unique, cultural experience that flourishes its Mexican tradition anywhere it serves.
Its flavors draw attention to the savory feeling of at-home dishes all while providing a unique palate experience. From the richness of the Georgia-grown vegetables that are infused in the foundation of our spicy Verde and Roja salsas to the salivating juiciness of our exquisitely marinated tacos, all of our recipes are founded on grandma’s legacy.
TRMV thrives on its innovated approach of reaching our customers where they are. Being able to provide a mobile TRMV experience has created a dense and loyal customer base. Strong relationships with local breweries has provided exponential business growth for both; after-all, nothing pairs better with a locally-crafted brew than a quick, easy to access, mouth-watering Mexican delight.
Its mobile, pop-up model has gained a spectrum of partners ranging from entertainment companies looking to provide nutritious fuel for hungry celebrities to working mothers seeking meal refuge for their family and friend gatherings. The flexibility of its product offerings and menus makes TRMV an easy and tailored solution to any event.
With tailored menus comes tailored pricing. TRMV’s pricing model accommodates to the needs of the customer. Our portfolio has ranged from serving a romantic, taco Tuesday date night meal to flying high with Delta Air Lines’ marketing department fundraisers; any kind of opportunity provided, our team is ready to serve you and your guests the ultimate TRMV experience.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I’ve always been a charismatic easy to get along with type of man. I love sports, grew up playing Soccer, Basketball, Football, MMA, Golf. I love numbers; I find it fascinating discovering various problem-solving equations.
I wanted to be an architect growing up because of numbers; however, the success and life education my parents gave me as they managed their business quickly drew my attention to becoming an entrepreneur. Or what I like to think of myself- an Autodidact.
Pricing:
- You can get a TRMV experience of 3 tacos for around average of $11 dollars
